Trip Overview

Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan are Nepal's top destinations as they offer natural and cultural beauty altogether. Kathmandu has temples of hundreds of years, monasteries, and heritage sites that invite thousands of tourists every year due to their strikingly historic and architectural enigma, besides being a modern city; no doubt tourists get startled by the fact how it is still so much connected to its ancient cultural practices.

Chitwan is a well-known destination for its natural beauty and national park where endangered animals like the one-horned rhino, Bengal tiger, gharial, etc are conserved. People often visit here for jungle safari activities to spot such rare animals and enjoy the peaceful calm forest environment. Pokhara is the tourist city of Nepal. Mind-blowing view of giant mountain ranges, beautiful lakes, and thrilling adventure activities makes this city a top-notch domestic as well as global tourist attraction spot.

Orchid Tours and Travels is here to help you make your trip to Nepal’s three most popular cities convenient and memorable.

Trip Itinerary

01

There will be a representative of our company eagerly waiting for you to touch down. He will drive you to your hotel in a private tourist vehicle.

You will spot many small or big temples as you move closer to the hotel. You will find many houses of different shapes but in the Kathmandu Valley, you will see 500-year-old houses easily and this does not mean you will not get to see the latest designs of houses. You can enjoy a very traditional Nepalese Thakali lunch set where rice, lentils, vegetable curry, meat, pickles, and dessert at final.

After a heartfelt meal, you can rest for a while to let that jetlag feeling go away. In the evening, you can simply take a walk to see the real Kathmandu and its people. You can do some shopping at local markets and bargain as much as you can because some people tend to overcharge tourists. That said, most people are very kind and treat tourists with respect. Also, you can try the famous Nepalese staple food, momos for dinner.

02

On your tour to Nepal, you get to experience different cultural and historical sites of the Kathmandu city. A professional English-speaking tourist guide will take you to Kathmandu in a private vehicle. Today we plan to visit places that are listed on World Heritage Sites.

First, we shall head towards Pashupatinath Temple which is the largest Temple in Nepal. A structure as big as a fortress is steeped in history and attracts millions of pilgrims each year. Non-Hindus can explore only the premises of the temple and are not allowed to enter the gate of the main deity of Pashupatinath.

The next stop is Swayambhunath which got the name Monkey Temple due to the large numbers of monkeys living there. This temple is a little unique as it’s located on a hill where you will be able to see a panoramic view of the whole city, to reach the temple itself you have to climb stairs for some time.

Beware of the monkeys though as some can be vicious I’ve been attacked before. Worshippers of every religion come here to pray and even meditate. As you roam around, you will hear hymns playing around that soothe your ears.

Boudha Stupa is another big tourist place in Kathmandu. The biggest Buddhist stupa of Asia indicates the peace and harmony of all the Nepalese people. This day’s final tour will be at the historical Kathmandu Durbar Square which used to be the ancient palace of the Malla and Shah dynasties.

We bet your guide will have many beautiful stories to tell about this palace which has seen so many iconic moments in the history of Nepal. You will also find many iconic statues, buildings, and temples which have their own identity and legendary stories.

After a fun yet tiring trip to so many amazing places, you will be dropped back to your hotel. Shopping for a few essentials on the street of Thamel, now you will pack your luggage for another trip to Chitwan.

03

A trip to Chitwan is nothing like that of Kathmandu as the culture and geography are different. While domestic flights are available, we strongly suggest you take a bus so that you can encounter forests, hills, and valleys, and meet new people on the way. The roads are mostly good and it will only take a 5-6 hour ride to reach there.

Upon reaching Chitwan, you can explore the Tharu village and experience their culture and traditions. You can enjoy the Tharu dance while having dinner and call it a day as more excitement awaits you the next day.

04

Your jungle safari starts early morning and you can relax on a jeep, all ready to see some of the endangered species. It is normal to be a little scared if you encounter some animals. Just follow the guides and instructions given to you. On lucky days, tourists often get to see pythons, rhinos, tigers, and many species of birds.

You can also experience elephant baths in the Narayani River, so carry an extra pair of clothes just in case. To have a more thrilling experience, you can go canoeing on the Narayani River and get a serene view of the river ecosystem. If birds fascinate you, you are at the right place as this place has over 500 species of birds and you can spot them.

05

Pokhara is the next place we go to, and this is about a 4-5 hour ride from Chitwan. On the way, you drive through the rural area with small villages, and green agricultural fields that grab everyone’s attention, very pretty. Somewhere along the way, you can also catch a glimpse of mountains far away, if the weather wants.

The Trishuli River accompanies you along most of the way. You will have a pleasant experience travelling to Pokhara. Upon reaching, you will reach your hotel and the weather will feel cool and mild. After lunch, you will simply want to take a drink and chill while looking at the view of this city. Some streets might remind you of Kathmandu otherwise it is a different world on its own.

06

When you visit Pokhara for the very first time, it is likely to take your breath away from you with its different views, hot spots, and beautiful places. This day starts very early because you will be climbing the Sarangkot hill for a full view of the dawn.

Do hope that the morning isn’t too cloudy so that you people get a brilliant image of the mountains that shimmer in gold courtesy of the sun. Later in the day, when the sun has risen high up, we will hire a boat to row on the Phewa Lake, which has great views of the Annapurna range. There is also the iconic Barahi temple perched on a small island inside the lake.

Once the trip is finished, you will go with your guide to the World Peace Pagoda from where you can enjoy breathtaking views over the lake and the town. You will feel a cool and soothing sensation as you gaze at the sky with the blue tones from one of the white building’s balconies.

A lunch break is a must after so much traveling. You can stop by a local restaurant and have a meal as per your wish. It is the time to travel to Davis Fall which is an iconic waterfall flowing down a deep cliff. During the rainy season, the water cascading down roars immensely often creating rainbows.
Just a few minutes walk from the fall, there is Gupteshwor Cave, a holy temple situated deep down inside a cave. You will notice water droplets falling from the cave’s upper part.

After taking blessings from the temple, you hear a loud water flowing sound which is the water flowing from the cliff of the Davis Falls you just visited. The day comes to end here with so many activities, all you want is to have a nice dinner and get a good sleep.

07

The fun activities in Pokhara have not ended yet. This morning we will soar high above the city by enjoying paragliding from the Sarangkot hill. The guides are professionals so do not worry about it.

If you wish, you can also enjoy bungee jumping from a suspension bridge. Cycle lovers can rent a bicycle and enjoy a ride during the evening.

08

Do some shopping if you need to since you will be returning to Kathmandu on this day. A traditional Nepali meal would bid a proper goodbye.

On a flight, you will reach Kathmandu only within half an hour. Otherwise, a bus ride is fine. Within a few hours, you will reach the capital city after a whirlwind tour. Dedicate this day to shopping and taking a good rest. You can also explore different restaurants and try Nepalese cuisine.

09

Just a few hour's ride from Kathmandu, Nagarkot is a tiny, peaceful hill town. Visiting here is worth it, especially after being on a hectic trip and experiencing so many activities.

You can get stunning views of the hills and mountains and enjoy beautiful sunsets. Overall, you can simply relax with nature while visiting here.

10

You spend a quiet evening in Nagarkot before catching a bus back to Kathmandu. Now you may discover the narrow streets and historic neighborhoods of this city. Numerous locations across the city offer shopping for handicrafts, souvenirs, and other goods.

Also engaging in mindful conversations with local people is so satisfying. There are lots of art galleries where you can learn about Nepal’s contemporary art. Or, do so fun activities like paper making or pottery.

FAQ's

Kathmandu is normally the cheapest place of all these as it provides pocket-friendly options for living and dining. Chitwan is considered slightly more expensive due to being a popular wildlife safari hub.

Pokhara, a tourist magnet, can be extremely expensive in its peak seasons. Hotels, dining and shopping can be very expensive. However, it is all in the hands of the traveller and how they choose to design their trip.

Yes. The aviation industry is doing its best to improve the condition of safety measures of airlines in Nepal. While accidents can happen anytime and anywhere, many flights have a good safety record. It is also necessary to research the airlines that you want to travel with and their safety record. Also, check the weather update before flying anywhere as that is also a big factor.

The beauty of Kathmandu and Pokhara can not be compared. While Kathmandu attracts people due to its cultural richness and history, Pokhara is rather on the natural and adventure side. This visually captivating city has stunning landscapes, lakes and mountain scenes, things Kathmandu does not have.
