Bonanza Buddhist tour and a short hike from Kathmandu to NamoBuddha, the hill station blessed with the names and murals of Buddhism. A viewpoint and a hike of around 15 km, that oozes out the Buddhism in you in many ways, but nature leaves you in struck like no other, even young people can participate in this hike.

Nepal has decent Buddhist followers and pilgrimages all around the world are treated with respect. The most revered visit here will be to the historic Maya Devi temple, the main attraction of Lumbini.

We skip the peak touristy things like trekking or Pokhara exploration in Nepal at this point. In fact, we give all to spirituality, understanding butter lamp culture, and prayers in Tibetan Buddhist monasteries.

Trip Itinerary

01

Our representative will be outdoors in the TIA terminal to receive you. From there, you abode a private transfer to Hotel in Thamel. First day in Kathmandu, you might have been tired from a long journey, we give you a rest at 3-star cozy hotels, in the heart of Thamel. Where you can see age-old houses, explore Basantapur Durbar Square on the first day, and truly live the moments.

Try some famous Newari desert Yamari, shop for local markets, and even bargains with respect, (they might offer premium prices for tourists). We can tip them with big hearts instead, and make some videos to promote the culture and food of Nepal in your feed.

We won't keep much on the day of arrival so that you are not saturated in the first few hours after arrival. We rest the day at the hotel after a meet-up dinner regarding the itinerary for the next few days, plan the trip, and even customize the stay to your preferences.

02

Kathmandu is a kind of Dharma realm for Buddhists. From Swoyambhunath stupa to Kopan monastery, there are many revered cultural places denoted to Buddhism. Boudhanath Stupa is yet another beautiful place. The second day is going to be a full-day guided sightseeing tour around the Buddhist pilgrimage area in Kathmandu.

Boudha Stupa is the biggest stupa of peace and harmony in Kathmandu. This is just a 45-minute drive from the main street of Thamel. We woke up early to go to Boudhanath, explored the area there, and then went to Kopan monastery to learn more about the prolific cultures of the Kathmandu valley.

Swoyambhunath the Monkey Temple is a good place to hang out with friends; complete the 365 steps to Harati Mata Temple and the main stupa. We will be there by evening, and all the meals will be taken care of, but extra food than the itinerary will be charged.

03

The morning view is the best from the Namo Buddha hill station, but we will make it to the sunrise, as we rest for the morning and prepare ourselves for a day hike.

We take a Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha Hike, which is a 12 km hiking distance and takes about 2 to 3 hours to reach there. When the weather is pleasant and not so hot, the journey to the Thrangu Tashi Yangtse (Namo Buddha Monastery) is so much fun.

Hiking and comfy shoes are good buddies, so we choose the best hiking shoes for the day and carry some tasty snacks along. The peaceful ambiance makes you want to stay there forever. You can simply meditate and experience spirituality of some sort.

It is a Karma Kagyu traditional Tibetan Buddhist monastery, which is famous after the story of the Mahasattva prince. He, who is believed to be the 7th reincarnation of Lord Buddha, sacrificed himself to a Tigress and was ready to be fed to its cubs. The story is inscribed on a stone slab, right next to the stupa.

We will drive from Thamel to Namo Buddha. We can skip and directly reach the Namo Buddha but a hike is a different experience we can all together have around the stupa. We will have some good memories of prayers and meditation at an altitude of 1750 m in Namo Buddha. Our lunch will be on the monastery's premises only.  We plan to return with a private transfer on the same day, as we have the next day's flight to Lumbini.

04

Today we head to the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. It takes around 35 minutes on air to reach Lumbini, but around 2 to 3 hours to clear security. We arrange the domestic flight to Lumbini and have pre-arranged pickup and taxi services here. We will plan more regarding the main attractions in Lumbini, which we cover and are not something we can miss. This UNESCO World Heritage has the heart of all tourists.

05

In our full day in Lumbini, Maya Devi Temple, the exact spot where Siddhartha Gautam was born. The ancient ruins and holy pond of Maya Devi temple. The Ashoka Pillar, erected by Emperor Ashoka in 249 BC, is a historical place on Lumbini

There is a World Peace Pagoda contributed to the Banyan tree (Bodhi). 4 to 5 hours is good enough to visit Lumbini The entry fee for Lumbini is Rs 700 for foreigners, while it is just Rs 20 for Nepali citizens. We can explore Lumbini Park and stupas contributed by each country for the heritage site of the place.

There are meditation centers and extensive monastic sites, which we will be exploring for around 4 hours, starting early morning after breakfast. The infrastructures are donations of a respective nature and surprisingly add to the whole beauty and Buddhism. We will see Peace Pagoda, the Burmese (Myanmar) temple, the World China temple, the Dharmaswami Buddhist monastery, and others made by different countries in the periphery of Lumbini Garden.

06

We return to Kathmandu with a heart full of memories on a flight from Gautam Buddha International Airport. We also explore some of the famous dining out places in Kathmandu today, see the local streets, wrap up memories, and have a walk around Dharahara Kathmandu to spare part of our extra day.
