Mera East – West – Sherpani Col to Makalu Trekking
Mera Peak is less difficult technically so it is popular to those people who has not long experience of climbing. Mr Roberts and Sen has first of all explored this peak in 20 May 1953. The trekking trail to Mera peak crosses dense forest (pines, hemlocks, birches and luxuriant rhododendrons). the trekking holds astonishing summit panorama including five of the worldâ€™s 8000m peaks: Kangchenjunga (8586m), Makalu (8475m), Lhotse (8501m), Everest (8848m) and Cho Oyo (8153m). Ascending on snow slopes up to summit.
After the summit back to Lukla same route or continue to Mingbola or Amphulaptsa la or Serapani col through Hunku valley and panch pokhari ( 5 lakes). Hongu and Hinku uninhabited valleys are grazing kharkas. Amphulaptsa and Mingbo la passes are considered technically difficult. The trek Mera to Amphu Laptsa /Mingbo La passes through wilder upper hongu valley. It holds the views of Himalayas and hearty scenery of lakes Hunku lakes and Panch Pokhari lakes. Amphu Laptsa is to be passed technically to Chukkung Valley and Mingbo La to Nare glacier. Trekking proceeds toward Makalu base camp 3-4 days walking over 6000m on snow and over crevasses to east col, west col and sherpani col.
